Get your TFN to start working in Australia.

Tax File Number (TFN)

TFN is your personal preference number for lodging your tax and super in Australia. This helps to create a unique identity for you, so it is important to keep it safe. Your TFN will always remain the same even if there is a change in your name or address. Both individuals and organisations are issued this number by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to help manage their tax and government obligations.

Why do you need a TFN?

TFN helps you to pay the exact amount of taxes, to start and change jobs easily, claim a refund, and avail many other benefits. If you do not have it the Australian Government will tax you at a massive 48.5% instead of the usual tax ratebetween 15% to 32.50%. You will also require a TFN to obtain an ABN (Australian Business Number) if you are running your own business. This also enables you to receive HELP payment, join a superfund, use PAYG withholding, etc.
